This is a guide on replacing a screen on an Acer Aspire 5 A517
For the replacement process we will need a plastic pick and a Phillips screwdriver.

Turn off the laptop

To begin turn the laptop off

Remove the bezel

Start by removing the bezel. Insert a plastic pick between the bezel and the LCD.
Move it along the left side. Insert the plastic between the bezel and the back cover
move it along the perimeter. Release the bezel at the bottom of the screen.
Put it aside.

Remove four Phillips screws

Using a Phillips screwdriver remove four screws holding the screen.
Place the screen on the keyboard

Disconnect video cable

Peel off the clear tape securing the video connector.
Using both hands disconnect the video cable and discard the old screen

Connect the new screen

Place the new screen on the keyboard.
Using both hands gently reconnect the video cable. Secure it with
clear tape. CAUTION! It is very important not to force any connectors. Also
make sure not to twist or slant the connector when plugging it in

Test the screen

Now we can test the screen. Lift the screen up and lean it against the back cover.
Turn the laptop on. The screen is working and we can finish the installation process

Replace four screws

Replace four Phillips screws in the corners. Remove protective film

Replace the bezel

Start from the bottom and then go around the perimeter
snapping tabs back in place. Close the laptop and make sure the bezel is in
place in the bottom. Turn the laptop on and we are done!
